Travelling to Spain by ferry takes from 24-32 hours depending on whether you decide to take a one or two night cruise. *The two night cruise stops at Roscoff for approximately 90 mintues to allow for a crew change and to load supplies. (Passengers are not permitted to leave the vessel during this time.)
As well as direct ferries there are number of other options. You could try either a ferry to France or a ferry to Belgium and make the drive down to Spain. Spain, France and Belgium are all linked with a great motorway network.
If your taking your dog or small pet with you on your travels, then you are in luck because all ferries allow you to travel with dogs and small animals. Brittany Ferries has its own policy and usually offer kennels for dogs, with smaller animals remaining in your vehicle during the crossing.
